About Houdini's 278

Now you see it, now you don’t.  Houdini’s 278 Project partnered with Tim Cullen of Hooligan Georgia to create luxury fountain pens from the wood of Harry Houdini’s home in New York City; four are available thus far, each a match of hand-poured acrylic and either bronze or nickel silver trim. The acrylic-lined, stabilized wood is either left bare or features oil paintings of the iconic escape artist. Metal clips have a hand-cut key shape, hand engraved with the numerals “278” at the clip top. The cap end features keyhole engraving, a motif repeated in the keyhole-shaped breather hole of the 18 karat gold nib. Houdini’s signature is engraved into the metal cap ring, and each fountain pen comes in a luxurious “pen casket.” The Houdini pen collection also includes a ballpoint version with resin-injected wood hand turned by Kate Harrow, featuring Houdini’s signature engraved into the barrel and a strip of purple acrylic in the twist cap, all matched to metal appointments. Other items in the Houdini wood collection include knives, cufflinks, and even novelty wands.

Custom Wood Collectibles

Houdini's 278 features unique, one-of-a-kind collectible items created from wood salvaged from famed magician Harry Houdini's former home at 278 West 113th St. in New York City.
