There are stories of lost treasures around the world by land and by sea;
however, the State of Texas has its own legends! Since Texas is larger than
life, so are the stories that can be told about lost treasures.
Treasure hunters have been looking for sunken and buried treasure for centuries.
There have been many books and records made of legends, and actual findings of
coins and other valuable relics. You can see these findings in museums and other
places of interest.
Whether some of these stories are fact or fiction, no one really knows for
sure anymore. The hunt or chase of these lost treasures is a wonderful past
time. Who knows, maybe you will be one of the lucky ones that discovers the
mother lode of all time!
On May 19, 2007, Tampa-based Odyssey Marine Exploration reported that they
have discovered hundreds of thousands of colonial-era silver and gold coins
worth an estimated $500 million from a shipwreck in the Atlantic Ocean. This
find is considered the largest find so far. There are still fortunes
waiting out there for some lucky prospector to find!

Panning For Gold
Are you an outdoor enthusiast? Do you like to hike and explore nature and wild
life areas? If you do, why don't you take up gold panning as a hobby? You can
get the whole family involved in it.
Panning for gold is the most common, and least expensive method for recovering
gold. Look around springs, creeks and rivers especially in the gravel beds. In
the
mountains where there are water run offs that may open the earth to what is
underneath.
All you need is a gold pan and little else to put you in business. Carry your
supplies in a back pack along with your survival needs. To order your gold pan,
see
the banner below.
Places to pan for gold and other precious metals
The next time you are in the New Braunfels-San Antonio, Texas area, check out
the Natural Bridge Caverns. You can tour the cavern with the whole family and
even pan for precious stones. They have Texas' Largest Sluice. You use a screen
to discover sparkling gems and minerals or even fossils and arrowheads. It's
like panning for gold plus you get to pocket whatever you find!
Natural Bridge Caverns
In the olden days, open range was the norm for cattle ranches and prospectors.
Today,
the lack of open land is the biggest problem and the prospector needs to gain
permission from the land owner before exploring the area. You may even have to
pay a fee for the privilege of entering the property.
The Llano River, Honey Creek and Sandy creek are places that gold have been
found. Enchanted Rock, located in Llano County, is the second largest granite
dome in the United States.
Fort Davis in the mountain areas is a good place to look.
Check out the Colorado River. It snakes across Texas through numerous towns and
communities.
If you would like to give me
some other areas in Texas where gold dust have been found, please send me
an e-mail. I will be happy to include the information.
